In light of the tragedy at the Notre Dame today I wanted to share the story of La Mothe-Chandeniers castle. This beautiful, one of a kind castle was destroyed by fire and many other disasters over the centuries that it’s stood here in the French countryside. It was abandoned and almost torn down by developers after being completely overgrown. Then, something incredible happened that’s never been done before. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thousands of people from over 100 countries rallied together online through crowdfunding to buy the Chateau de la Mothe-Chandeniers, raising more than a million dollars to save it from being lost forever. Time inevitably takes a toll on these parts of our history but what was built before can always be built again with more resilience than ever before♥️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo by @exploringwithjosh ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Drone shots by @skylynx_productions

Según contó, esta gran pasión por viajar surgió cuando era chica, ya que sus papás eran los dueños de una agencia de viajes en California. Y ya a los 12 años comenzó a ahorrar para alcanzar su objetivo: conocer todos los países del mundo.

I’ve been coming to a really important realization: your interpretation of a country has nothing to do with the country itself. Its your mindset that defines whether or not you enjoy the time you spend in a place. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since September I’ve been reflecting on the experiences I’ve had in Africa. To be honest, spending almost 3 months last summer in 20+ countries throughout West & Central Africa was really rough on my mental health. The language barriers, intense cultural differences, constant movements... it can be really depressing and lonely at times. I had never thought about giving up & going home until I started seriously traveling in this area of the world. But that’s when I was reminded of the quote, “I didn’t come this far to only come this far”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m so happy that after this last fantastic trip to 5 countries throughout Africa I had a total shift in perspective! The places I traveled to were somewhat similar to where I was before but this time something was different. I’m starting to slow down. My mind is more open and prepared to absorb everything, even the frustrating bits, with patience & gratitude. It’s crazy that I’ve traveled to 189 countries now and somehow I still feel like I’m just beginning to understand the ways of the world. There’s so much left to learn!!

Reconoció a Fox News que le encantan los lugares fuera de lo común, aquellos que la gente "no entiende", y puso como ejemplo a Venezuela o Pakistán.

There’s been so many wild adventures I don’t even know where to start! I have so many stories to share. For example, this photo was taken on my 20th birthday when I was traveling alone in #Jordan. It was one of my first big solo trips (also visited #Lebanon, #Kazakhstan, #Tajikistan, #Kyrgyzstan, #Azerbajian, #Georgia, #Armenia on this same trip!) and I was a nervous about everything from waking up on time for flights to figuring out how the heck to take photos of myself, by myself😂 It also felt strange to spend a birthday alone, which I had never done before...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Couldn’t recommend doing that more by the way! Putting myself out there with an open mind, getting to explore at my own pace and having time to just sit & reflect in a foreign place is one of the most empowering things I’ve ever done for myself as a woman. I slowly started to learn how to be alone without being lonely. I realized that it’s even easier to make conversations with strangers when you’re alone and that the world is more welcoming towards curious women than ever before. What a time to be alive ♥️

"Mi objetivo final es mostrar que el mundo no es un lugar aterrador y cada cultura alberga bondad a pesar de las inestabilidades políticas", explicó en su sitio web.

What are 3 defining moments in your life? I’ve been thinking about this a lot and thought it would be a fun exercise to do with you guys. As someone that goes through tons of phases, both positive and negative, I get so nostalgic when I think about the things that brought me to where I am today. Here’s a few of my turning points: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. The day I passed my exams to skip Junior & Senior years of high school. 2. Bungee jumping in Switzerland the summer after I graduated from college.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. The very first time I thought about breaking the world record for the youngest person to travel to every country ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve got a pretty huge life achievement coming up with visiting my last country (!!) which I already know is going to change so much in my life. This photo may be a hint about the first place I’m going back to after I break the record 😉
